Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell was TV personality and former chef at the Institute of Culinary Education and previously taught cooking. She hosts Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network. Anne Burrell, a Food Network star with her trademark long, blonde hair with a bubbly personality, reveals simple methods to master and removes anxiety about restaurant food on her TV show Secrets of a Restaurant. Chef Burrell also has worked in some of New York's top restaurants, has studied the Italian food and culture, and was a contestant on Food Network's Iron Chef America. Growing up in upstate New York, Chef Burrell developed a passion for cooking and food in her early years. The Culinary Institute of America is where she enrolled after earning an English degree as well as a communications diploma from Canisius College Buffalo NY. She says "I loved being a Culinary Institute of American student. I was awed by every moment." It was difficult to master and do enough or put in the hours. After graduating, Burrell spent one year in Italy studying in the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners and worked in the Umbrian restaurant La Taverna del Lupo as in Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, an Michelin-starred restaurant. Burrell gained a greater knowledge of Italian food and culture during her stay in Italy, which has influenced the way she cooks. Burrell serves on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board that brightens up the lives of struggling children. Additionally, she is an Juvenile diabetes Research Foundation Celebrity Advocate where she raises awareness about the condition of children with diabetes. Burrell is often a guest speaker at conferences and travels throughout the United States in her mentorship job. In her journey to culinary excellence, Anne often says that she feels extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to share my passion for life with people.
